I cannot think of a single stand-alone emulator which actually understands how to properly handle audio and video sync in a way that prevents stuttering or audio distortion, or which properly supports variable refresh rate displays to run the emulator at exactly the original rate without those problems.Īnd none of them have good shader support. The problem is that, from a user point of view, RetroArch and other Libretro front-ends are significantly better than any other stand-alone emulator project out there. I haven't been following the emulation scene that closely these days, but unfortunately from what I've seen, TwinAphex has managed to drive away nearly every emulator developer that has written their own Libretro cores for the project, and most rely on forked code from third-party contributors now - which often means that they are running older code. ini file.Unless I'm misunderstanding things, it sounds like TwinAphex went scorched earth on this to try and destroy any trace of the illegal code usage (including the code) since that could sink the entire project and open them up to a whole host of legal problems with the intent of patching things up later after it had been dealt with. I'm thinking I'm not understanding how to appropriately add/install the modelines to my. I have followed the advice in this thread and have disabled the AMD External events utility and made sure that "hide modes that is monitor cannot display" is checked. The game launches fine but the VMM/monitor loses sync. I'm trying to launch the Redream emulator from Bigbox. I have a Win7 64 PC with CRT Emudrivers setup with 15 khz arcade monitor. Hi there, I'm trying to do the exact same thing I believe but am having issues. would this make a difference? I have tried resolutions of 320x240, 640x480, as well as superresolutions such as 2560x2x480 with no love. Has anybody else encountered this issue? Does anybody have a clue what could be causing this emulator to lose sync when in fullscreen mode only?Ĭurrently running Windows 7, Crt_emudriver 2.0, RetroArch w/multiple cores, I also have VMMaker set to Arcade 15khz. Reicast works fine within RetroArch as well but I have kind of fallen in love with Redream for its simplicity and support. The second I set it to fullscreen mode the CRT loses sync. I can stretch the image to fit my entire screen but doing this every time I want to play a game is a bit of a pain in the butt and kind of kills the front end feel when I’m using Big Box. When I try to use Redream on my Crt outside of RetroArch it works as long as it is in Windowed mode. Only problem is that since Redream went non-open source RetroArch hasn’t been able to stay current with the core’s emulator updates. Is there anyone in this community that has tried Sega Dreamcasts Redream emulator with Crt_emudriver outside of retroarch and had any luck? Within RetroArch Redream runs great on my Crt/LCD dual monitor setup.
